Washington Township Animal Control


ANIMAL CONTROL DIVISION

This Division under the auspices of the Police Department Division of the Public Safety and according to Municipal Code performs all appropriate functions with regard to maintaining public safety while sharing the Township with animals, including:

  • Enforcement of Municipal Codes relating to animals
  • Responsible for capture, containment and proper disposition of strays at large, or potentially dangerous domestic animals
  • Meet State of New Jersey animal cruelty and safety standards
  • Prepare Division annual budget

The Division of Animal Control does not issue dog licenses. All dogs/cats living in the Township of Washington Township over the age of 7 months must be licensed annually.

Be prepared to provide:
• certificate of rabies vaccination
• proof of spaying or neutering, if done.

Dog/Cat licenses should be renewed each calendar year during the month of January, or the owner will be assessed a late fee!
