Washington Township Police Department

National Night Out is a nation wide event held annually on the first Tuesday in August. This year 's event will be held on August 7th. The event is an excellent opportunity for the community to come together as a cohesive team and let criminals know that the community is united. The event is held at Rock-Spring Park.

2007's event was was an unsuprassed event with record breaking crowds, even with the excessive heat. The Community Policing Unit and helpers again served countless hamburgers and hot dogs. Popcorn, ice cream, watermelon, and fresh corn completed the menu. The National Night Out campaign is an event whose parent organization, National Association of Town Watch, sponsors every year and involves almost 33 million people from almost ten-thousand communities worldwide. The additional purposes of National Night Out are to heighten crime and drug abuse awareness in the community, to generate support for crime prevention programs in the community, and strengthen neighborhood and community spirit.
