Core Curricula


Core Curriculum
(Fifth Grade)

The core curriculum is presented in the fifth grade at the Long Valley Middle School . Each classroom is visited ten times from January through May. In addition to the D.A.R.E. lessons the officer also eats lunch and spends time with the students at recess. After the ten lessons there is a graduation ceremony which parents are invited to attend. Following the culmination is a barbecue lunch that is prepared by members of the police department. The following topics are covered in the core curriculum:

  • Lesson 2 – Tobacco and You
  • Lesson 3 – Smoke Screen
  • Lesson 4 – Alcohol and You
  • Lesson 5 – The Real Truth
  • Lesson 6 - Friendship Foundations
  • Lesson 7 – Putting it Together
  • Lesson 8 – Personal Action
  • Lesson 9 – Practice! Practice! Practice!
  • Lesson 10 – Special Event
Senior High Program
(Tenth Grade )

The Senior High D.A.R.E. Program consists of five topics and is presented to students in the tenth grade. The program is conduct during the students Physical Education classes. The following topics are covered in the Senior High Program:

  • Driving While Intoxicated
  • Personal Safety
  • Bullying, Harassment, and Domestic Violence
  • Underage Consumption of Alcohol (House Parties)
  • Club Drugs
