Community Policing Unit Introduces Police Trading Card Program

First Ten Collectors to Receive a $50 US Savings Bond

The Washington Township Police Department and the Community Policing Unit, with the financial support of the Municipal Alliance has instituted a Police Trading Card program.

The mission of the program is to reach out to residents of the community sixteen years or younger, in an attempt to expand communications between the police officers and the more junior members of the community. The emphasis of the program is to place emphasis on the community caretaking role of police officers in the township. Ideally, the trading card program will reinforce the message to the children of our community that they can approach a Washington Township Police Officer under any circumstances.

Participants in the program are requested to ask for only one card from each officer. Since the purpose of the program is to have children approach our officers and request a card, parents, coaches, troop leaders etc. should not request cards for participants in their programs.

The complete set of police trading cards consists of 35 different officers. An interactive collage of the cards is located on the Police Department web site at http://www.wtpdmorris.org/department/Individual/rostercard.html . The fist ten participants who collect all 35 cards will be awarded a $50 savings bond. Some of the rules are:

  • Participants must be residents, 16 years old or younger, of Washington Township.
  • One winner per family
  • The families of Washington Township Police Department employees are excluded for participating.
  • A successful participant who collects all 35 cards should contact the Community Policing Unit at 908.876.8309. The Community Policing Unit will verify that the individual has the complete series.

If there are any additional questions, please contact Patrol Officer Rob Oranchak at 908.876.3232
