Flooding in town Damages Properties, Disrupts Traffic

The rain swollen Raritan River and it's tributaries stalled traffic and flooded properties on Wednesday morning , June 28. heavy overnight showers flooded roadways on the mountain and left may streets covered in stones and gravel.

Raritan River st the Schooley's Mountain Road BridgeSergeant Almer reported portions of West Mill Road were flooding around 6AM and a request was made to the Morris County Road department to take action. Bartley Road, East and West Mill Roads, Schooley's Mountain Road,and others were either closed or affected by the flooding during the morning rush-hour.

Scott Frech, Superintendent of the The Washington Township Department of Public Works, and the entire DPW department were busy clearing roads of debris, inspecting the integrity of roadways after the flood waters receeded, and assisting the Police Department with detour and warning signs.

West Mill Road was eventually opened to traffic by late afternoon.
