Mobile Command Center
Washington
Township's mobile command center, 36-30, is a converted
1989 Ford E350 Ambulance. The command center is set
equipped with one dispatcher's position. The
command center is outfitted with a fax machine, Mobile
Data Terminal capability, cell phones, high & low band
radios, a radio scanner, 2 meter amateur radio, CB
radio, closed circuit TV, and all the necessary
equipment for administering incident command. The mobile
command center can be utilized whenever a need arises by
all towns in Morris, Hunterdon, Warren and Somerset
Counties. These situations include any incident
requiring an incident command management, and may
include, fires, serious accidents, police situations and
special events, such as fireworks, parades, concerts and
carnivals.
The
Mobile Dispatching Unit has been used in Washington
Township for the search of missing persons, the 1992
tornado, and at various times at police headquarters
during power outages & radio failures. The mobile
command center was last seen at National Night Out.
Hackettstown utilized the mobile command center during
Hurricane Floyd, Mt. Olive for fireworks & a concert at
Waterloo Village. Chester used the mobile command
center for a search of an elderly man, and in Tewksbury
Township the mobile command center was used during the
Ford Mansion Fire. Mendham Township has used the
unit in conjunction with their Community Day and
fireworks celebration.
As
the community grows, the Washington Township Police
Department anticipates replacing the mobile command
center with a larger more modern unit to better handle
emergency situations, and Homeland Security issued
affecting agencies within our dispatching region.
