DOMESTIC VIOLENCE
Patrol
Officers Wurtemberg, assisted by Sergeant Compton, investigated a
possible case of Domestic Violence after an individual came to
Headquarters..
Patrol
Officer Wurtemberg initiated an investigation and determined an arrest
was not required. The individual was
advised of their rights, provided with documents related to victim’s
rights under the Domestic Violence Act, and offered an opportunity to
apply for a Temporary Domestic Violence Restraining Order.
Patrol
Officer Wurtemberg assisted the individual in obtaining a temporary
restraining order. A member of the Crisis Response Team (CRT) responded
to Headquarters to assist the victim. Patrol Officer Wurtemberg
forwarded the TRO to the NJ State Police for service, and provided the
victim with a 911 only capable cell phone for use if she felt
threatened, until her appearance in court. Patrol Officer Wurtemberg
additionally made appropriate referrals and forwarded the results of his
investigation to the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office.

A Paula Drive resident reported an item was taken from her mailbox.
Patrol Officer Wallenstein responded and initiated and completed an
investigation.

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE
Patrol
Officers Burns, assisted by Corporal Barnes, investigated a possible
case of Domestic Violence after an individual came to Headquarters..
Patrol
Officer Burns initiated an investigation and determined an arrest was
not required. The individual was
advised of their rights, provided with documents related to victim’s
rights under the Domestic Violence Act, and offered an opportunity to
apply for a Temporary Domestic Violence Restraining Order (TRO), and
speak with a Crisis Response Team (CRT) member. The individual declined
to speak with a member of the CRT team.
Patrol
Officer Burns assisted the individual in obtaining a temporary
restraining order. Washington Township Municipal Court Judge Leanza was
contacted and issued the TRO. Patrol Officer Burns served the
restraining order on the offender. Patrol Officer Burns additionally
made appropriate referrals and forwarded the results of his
investigation to the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office. |

CHECK
A Chester, NJ business representative reported that the company was
issued a bad check by a customer. Patrol Officer Bigham initiated an
investigation and determined the validity of the resident’s complaint
and facts. The business representative was advised of the procedure to
sign a criminal complaint.

A Pleasant Grove Road resident reported that a number of electronic
items were missing from the residence. Patrol Officer Leonardi
initiated an investigation. The value of the items and the serial
number of the items were not immediately available
The
investigation is continuing.

MISSING
PERSON
A
Pleasant Grove Road resident reported an individual was missing under
concerning circumstances. Patrol Officer Madden assisted by Sergeant
Bratus, Corporal Carvino, and Patrol Officers Allen, and Hade initiated
an investigation.
Patrol
Officer Madden determined the disappearance met the criteria necessary
for entry into the Missing Persons database of the National Crime
Information Center (NCIC), and entered the individual. Surrounding
municipalities were notified and the Morris County Missing Persons Unit
was additionally notified.
The
missing person was located by the
Northampton County
Sheriff's Department of Easton PA. on January 30, 2004 at 9:54 PM. The
Pleasant Grove Road resident was notifies that the individual was
located.

A Long Valley, NJ business owner reported that the company was issued a
bad check by a resident of Budd Lake. . Patrol Officer Hade initiated
an investigation and determined the validity of the resident’s complaint
and facts. The business representative was advised of the procedure to

ARREST (DWI)
Sergeant Compton arrested a 21 year old male resident of Long Valley, NJ
for Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) on Fairview Avenue. The vehicle
was impounded in accordance with “Johns Law” and the defendant was
transported to police Headquarters for a breathalyzer test and
processing
The
driver was additionally charged with reckless driving. The subject was
released to a responsible party.

PROPERTY
A Hackettstown, NJ resident came to Headquarters to report that a
Motorola, T720 cell phone was lost. Patrol Officer Brobst completed a
report.

VEHICLE
FIRE
A Knob Hill Road
resident reported that a vehicle in the driveway of the residence caught
on fire. Sergeant Compton responded to initiate an investigation. The
Long Valley Fire Company, the Schooley’s Mountain Fire Protection
Association and the Long Valley First Aid Squad and a MEDIC Unit
responded to extinguish the fire. Sergeant Compton determined the fire
started as a result of gasoline from a 1985 Mazda igniting. The owner
of the vehicle, a 20 year old male resident, was seriously burned on his
hand and was transported to the hospital by the Long Valley First Aid
Squad. Sergeant Compton determined the cause of the fire was
accidental.

PROPERTY DAMAGE
A resident of
Zellers Road
reported that their mail box was damaged by a vehicle sliding off the
roadway. Sergeant Adams responded and initiated an investigation.

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE
Patrol
Officer Brobst, assisted by Detective Oranchak, Sergeant Compton, and
Patrol Officer Wurtemberg, responded to a possible case of Domestic
Violence after a resident dialed 911.
As
Patrol Officer Brobst arrived on scene, a SUV was quickly leaving the
scene. The SUV crashed into Patrol Officer Brobst’s vehicle, and
immediately left the scene. Patrol Officer Brobst continued on to the
scene of reported domestic violence, as Detective Oranchak, and Sergeant
Compton pursued the vehicle. After a short pursuit, Detective Oranchak
stopped the vehicle, arrested and subdued the driver who resisted being
arrested. The individual was under the influence of alcohol.
The
vehicle was impounded in accordance with “Johns Law”, and the defendant
was transported to police Headquarters for a breathalyzer test and
processing.
Patrol
Officer Brobst initiated an investigation at the scene of domestic
violence and determined an arrest was required. The victim was
advised of their rights, provided with documents related to victim’s
rights under the Domestic Violence Act, and offered an opportunity to
apply for a Temporary Domestic Violence Restraining Order (TRO). The
victim indicated they wanted to obtain a TRO and speak with a member of
the Crisis Response Team (CRT), and went to police Headquarters. The
victim later decided against obtaining a TRO.
The
defendant was charged with domestic violence assault, resisting arrest,
aggravated assault on a police officer, fleeing the scene of domestic
violence, criminal mischief, obstruction of justice, reckless driving,
leaving the scene of an accident, failure to report an accident and
driving under the influence of alcohol. Washington Township Municipal
Court Judge Leanza set bail at $25,000 with a 10% option.
The
defendant
posted
bond, and was released to a responsible party. Patrol Officer Brobst
additionally made appropriate referrals to both parties and forwarded
the results of his investigation to the Morris County Prosecutor’s
Office.

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE
Patrol
Officers Leonardi, assisted by Sergeant Almer, investigated a report of
a violation of a
Temporary Domestic Violence Restraining Order (TRO).
Patrol
Officer Leonardi initiated an investigation and determined an arrest was
required. Patrol Officers Leonardi contacted Washington Township
Municipal Court Judge Leanza, who determined there was probable cause to
issue an arrest warrant for a violation of the TRO. Judge Leanza issued
the warrant. Patrol Officers Leonardi located the defendant. The
defendant was, arrested, and transported to police Headquarters for
processing.
Sergeant Almer contacted the
Morris County
Prosecutors Office. Assistant Prosecutor Skolnick, in turn contacted
Superior Court Judge Zucker Zarret, who set
bail on the warrant as released in the defendants own recognizance (ROR).
The defendant posted a fee and was released. Patrol Officer Leonardi
additionally made appropriate referrals and forwarded the results of his
investigation to the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office. |

Sergeant Bratus investigated a possible violation of a
Temporary Domestic Violence Restraining Order (TRO) after a resident
came to Headquarters.
Sergeant Bratus initiated an investigation and determined an arrest was
not required. Washington Township Municipal Court Judge Leanza was
contacted and determined there was no violation of the TRO.
Patrol Sergeant Bratus additionally made appropriate referrals and
forwarded the results of his investigation to the Morris County
Prosecutor’s Office. |

ASSAULT
Corporal
Pluciniak, assisted by Sergeant Bratus
investigated a report of an assault after receiving a report of a fight
in the street on
Yorkshire Drive.
Corporal
Pluciniak initiated an investigation and
determined that a 22 year old female resident of
Hackettstown, NJ struck a 20 year old female resident of Flanders, NJ in
the face after a traffic disagreement. The Long Valley First Aid squad
responded to the scene, and all the victims refused medical attention.
Corporal
Pluciniak advised the victims of the
procedure to sign a complaint in Municipal Court. |

Officer Allen, assisted by Sergeant Bratus, investigated a possible case
of Domestic Violence after a resident called the Communications Center.
Patrol
Officer Allen initiated an investigation and determined no arrest was
required. Both individuals were
advised of their rights, provided with documents related to victim’s
rights under the Domestic Violence Act, and offered an opportunity to
apply for a Temporary Domestic Violence Restraining Order (TRO). Both
individuals declined a TRO.
Patrol
Officer Allen additionally made appropriate referrals and forwarded the
results of his investigation to the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office. |
