DOMESTIC VIOLENCE
Patrol Officers Brobst, assisted by Sergeant Adams, investigated a possible case of Domestic Violence after a resident dialed 911 in regard to a custody dispute. 

Patrol Officer Brobst initiated an investigation and determined an arrest was not required.  All involved parties were advised of their rights, and were provided with documents related to victim’s rights under the Domestic Violence Act.  All parties were offered an opportunity to apply for a Temporary Domestic Violence Restraining Order (TRO).  All parties indicated they did not want to obtain TRO’s against the other.  Patrol Officer Brobst assisted an individuals in obtaining a Temporary Restraining Order.  Washington Township Municipal Court Judge Leanza issued the TRO’s.  Patrol Officer Brobst additionally made appropriate referrals to both parties and forwarded the results of his investigation to the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office.

LOST PROPERTY
A Pleasant Grove Road
resident came to Headquarters to report that a cell phone was lost.  Patrol Officers Rady completed a report.

PATROL ARREST (Warrant)
Patrol Officer Burns arrested a 38 year old male resident of
Garfield, NJ on a contempt of court warrant issued by the Washington Township Municipal Court.  Bail on the warrant was set at $250.  The individual was transported to Headquarters, processed and transported to the Morris County Correctional Facility as he was unable to post bail.

DUMPING
A Newburgh Road property owner called to report an individual was dumping at the rear of their property.  Patrol Officer Allen responded to initiate an investigation.  Patrol Officer Allen located the individual in the process of placing items on the property in question.  Patrol Officer Allen instructed the individual to remove the items, contacted the property owner, and advised the property owner as to the procedure to sign a complaint with the Township Court.

HARASSMENT
An Ann Road resident called to report that they received an obscene call.  Patrol Officer Madden responded to initiate an investigation.  Patrol Officer Madden advised the complainant what options were available, and the procedures involved, to address the situation.

THEFT
A Long Valley, NJ resident came to Headquarters to report that a purse was stolen.  Patrol Officer Falleni initiated an investigation.  The resident stated the purse was removed from the locker room of the West Morris Central high School during a softball scrimmage.  Patrol Officer Falleni determined the items stolen and the value was $310.  The investigation is continuing.  Any individual with information regarding the theft, or any other theft that may have occurred at the same time, is encouraged to contact the Washington Township Detective Bureau.

PATROL ARREST (Warrant)
Patrol Officer Allen arrested a 48 year old male resident of North Maple, NJ on a contempt of court warrant issued by the Atlantic City Municipal Court.  Bail on the warrant was set at $1,000.  The individual was transported to Headquarters, processed and turned over to the custody of the Atlantic City Police Department as he was unable to post bail.

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE
Patrol Officer Burns investigated a possible case of Domestic Violence after a resident came to Headquarters. 

Patrol Officer Burns initiated an investigation and determined an arrest was not required.  The individual was advised of their rights, provided with documents related to victim’s rights under the Domestic Violence Act, and offered an opportunity to apply for a Temporary Domestic Violence Restraining Order.  The individual declined the opportunity.  Patrol Officer Burns made arrangements for the victim to speak with a Crisis Response Team (CRT) member at a later time, and additionally made appropriate referrals and forwarded the results of his investigation to the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office.

BAD CHECK
A Long Valley, NJ business owner reported that their company was issued several bad checks by a contractor. Sergeant First Class Brader initiated an investigation and determined the validity of the resident’s complaint and facts.  The business representative was advised of the procedure to sign a criminal complaint.

PATROL ARREST (DWI)
Patrol Officer Falleni arrested a 53 year old male resident of Blairstown, NJ, for Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) on
East Springtown Road.  The defendant was transported to Police Headquarters for a breathalyzer test and processing.  While at Headquarters, the defendant complained of pain and was transported to Hackettstown Community Hospital where the defendant was attended to by hospital staff.  A blood sample was obtained, and the defendant was released to a responsible party.

The driver was additionally charged with careless driving, and failure to keep right, and failure to exhibit a required document.

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE
Sergeant Bratus, assisted by Corporal Pluciniak, investigated a possible case of Domestic Violence after a resident dialed Headquarters. 

Sergeant Bratus initiated an investigation and determined no arrest was required.  Both residents were advised of their rights, provided with documents related to victim’s rights under the Domestic Violence Act, and offered an opportunity to apply for a Temporary Domestic Violence Restraining Order (TRO).  Both individuals indicated they wanted to obtain TRO’s against the other. 

Sergeant Bratus determined through investigation both individuals were in possession of drug paraphernalia.  Both individuals were transported to Police Headquarters for processing. 

Sergeant Bratus assisted both individuals in obtaining Temporary Restraining Orders.  A Crisis Response Team (CRT) member came to Headquarters to meet with a defendant.  Washington Township Municipal Court Judge Leanza issued TRO’s for both individuals.  Both defendants were released in their own recognizance.  As part of the terms of the TRO, Sergeant Bratus, the Hackettstown Police, and a defendant went to a residence in Hackettstown to secure weapons.  A number of knives, a handgun, long guns, bow and ammunition were seized.  Hackettstown Police initiated a weapons possession investigation as a result of the seizure.  

Sergeant Bratus additionally made appropriate referrals to both parties and forwarded the results of his investigation to the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office.
