CAR FIRE
An Old Turnpike Road resident called on 911 to report a vehicle in the driveway is on fire.  Patrol Officer Madden responded to initiate an investigation. The Schooley’s Mountain Fire Protection Association responded to extinguish the vehicle.  Patrol Officer Madden determined, after consultation with fire officials, the fire was likely caused by an electrical malfunction.  The vehicle, a 2002 Ford was destroyed, and the house suffered smoke damage and damage to the siding.  None of the residents were injured.

PATROL ARREST (DWI)

CONSUMPTION OF ALCOHOL IN A MOTOR VEHICLE
Patrol Officer Hade, Assisted by Patrol Officer Allen and Sergeant Bratus, arrested a 22 year old male resident of
Manville, NJ for Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) on Schooley’s Mountain Road.  The vehicle was impounded in accordance with “Johns Law” and the defendant was transported to Police Headquarters for a breathalyzer test and processing

The driver was additionally charged by Patrol Officer Allen with Speeding and Consumption of Alcohol in a vehicle.  The subject was released to a responsible party.  Patrol Officer Allen also charged a 20 year old male from Manville, NJ and an additional 20 year old male from Manville, NJ with consumption of alcohol in a motor vehicle.  The defendants were transported to Police Headquarters for a processing, and released to a responsible party.

PATROL ARREST (DWI)
Patrol Officer Oranchak arrested a 36 year old female resident of Glen Gardner, NJ for Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) on West Mill Road.  The vehicle was impounded in accordance with “Johns Law” and the defendant was transported to Police Headquarters for a breathalyzer test and processing

The driver was additionally charged with reckless driving, operating an unregistered vehicle and failure to keep right.  The subject was released to a responsible party.

THEFT
A Howell, NJ resident reported their watch was stolen.  Patrol Officer Brobst initiated an investigation.  The complainant stated they took the watch off to paint and placed it down.  An outside contractor was at the residence at the time, and after the contractor left, the watch was missing.  The watch is valued at $1,800.00.

The investigation is continuing

FAMILY MATTER (Custody Dispute)

An individual reported that they were having difficulty with a civil family order dealing with custody times of their children.  Patrol Officer Rady responded to the scene to initiate an investigation.  Patrol Officer Rady determined the matter was civil and nature and unenforceable by the police department.  The resident was advised the incident would be documented, and was provided with the appropriate referrals.

HINDERING APPREHENSION
Patrol Officer Allen arrested a 37 year old male individual on Schooley’s Mountain Road for Hindering Apprehension, after the driver of the vehicle was stopped for a moving violation.  After receiving a fictitious document from the driver, Patrol Officer Allen, determined the identity of the driver, a resident of Hackettstown, NJ.  The operator was arrested, the vehicle was removed from the scene, and the  defendant was transported to Police Headquarters for a processing, and was released in his own recognizance.

BURGLARY
A Naughright Road resident called to report their residence was burglarized.  Corporal Pluciniak, assisted by Sergeant Bratus, responded to the scene to initiate an investigation.

Corporal Pluciniak determined what items were stolen from the premises and their value.  Detective Sergeant Pellegrino responded and processed the scene.  The investigation is continuing.

MARCH 30, 2004, ARREST
Detective Sergeant Pellegrino arrested a 43 year old female resident of Wharton and a 36 year old female resident of Mine Hill for Burglary and Theft in the above incident.  Both individuals were released in their own recognizance pending adjudication.

CRIMINAL MISCHIEF
A resident of Port Murray, NJ came to Headquarters and reported that their vehicle was damaged while driving on Schooley’s Mountain Road near East Maple Avenue.  Corporal Pluciniak responded and initiated an investigation.  Corporal Pluciniak determined the vehicle was hit with yellow paintballs.

LOST PROPERTY
A Long Valley, NJ resident reported that their driver’s license was lost.  Corporal Carvino completed a report.

PATROL ARREST (DWI)
Patrol Officer
Wurtemberg, assisted by Sergeant Adams,  arrested a 34 year old female resident of Budd Lake, NJ for Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) on Route 46 East.  The vehicle was impounded in accordance with “Johns Law” and the defendant was transported to Police Headquarters for a breathalyzer test and processing

The driver was additionally charged with reckless driving, and failure to maintain a lane.  The subject was released to a responsible party.

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE
Patrol Officer Bigham investigated a possible case of Domestic Violence after a resident called Headquarters. 

Patrol Officer Bigham initiated an investigation and determined an arrest was not required.  Both residents were advised of their rights, provided with documents related to victim’s rights under the Domestic Violence Act, and offered an opportunity to apply for a Temporary Domestic Violence Restraining Order.  Both residents declined the opportunity to apply for a Temporary Domestic Violence Restraining Order. Patrol Officer Bigham additionally made appropriate referrals and forwarded the results of his investigation to the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office.
