PATROL ARREST (DWI)
Patrol Officer Gilligan arrested a 41 year old male resident of Washington Township for Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) on
East Mill Road, after the individual was stopped or speeding.  The vehicle was impounded in accordance with “Johns Law” and the defendant was transported to Police Headquarters for a breathalyzer test and processing

The driver was additionally charged with speeding.  The subject was released to a responsible party.

THEFT
A Long Valley, NJ resident came to Headquarters to report that between 40 to 50 campaign signs have been stolen.  Corporal Carvino initiated an investigation.  The resident stated the signs were removed from numerous locations from around town, and that the property owners provided permission before the signs were placed on their property.  The investigation is continuing.

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE
Patrol Officers Hade, assisted by Sergeant Bratus, investigated a possible case of Domestic Violence after a resident reported a dispute at a premises. 

Patrol Officer Hade initiated an investigation and determined an arrest was not required.  Both individuals were advised of their rights, and the victim was provided with documents related to their rights under the Domestic Violence Act, and offered an opportunity to apply for a Temporary Domestic Violence Restraining Order (TRO).  The victim declined the opportunity to obtain a TRO.  Patrol Officer Madden additionally made appropriate referrals and forwarded the results of his investigation to the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office.

WEAPONS POSSESSION
West Morris Central High School reported a student was found in possession of a knife on school property.  Patrol Officer Madden, assisted by Sergeant Adams responded to initiate an investigation.

Patrol Officer Madden determined the individual was in possession of a lock blade knife, and contacted the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office in accordance with prosecutorial guidelines.  A determination to charge the individual with unlawful possession of a weapon was made.  The individual processed and released in his own recognizance pending an appearance in court.

DRUG ARREST
Patrol Officer Bigham arrested a male resident, age 40, of Orlando, FL, for possession of marijuana under 50 grams and possession of Paraphernalia, on Route 46 West, after the vehicle the individual was riding in was stopped as part of the Click-it or Ticket campaign.

Officer Bigham stopped the vehicle as the occupants were not wearing seat belts.  A subsequent investigation revealed there was an active arrest warrant issued by the Newark Municipal Court for an occupant, the 40 year old male resident of Orlando, FL.  The individual was arrested on the warrant, and subsequent to arrest, found to be in possession of a marijuana pipe and marijuana. 

The individual was transported to Police Headquarters, processed, issued a seat belt summons, and released on bail (ROR) pending an appearances in court. The driver, and the other three occupants of the vehicle was issued summonses for failing to wear seatbelts.

Patrol Officer Burns, assisted by Sergeant Adams and Corporal Barnes and investigated a possible case of Domestic Violence after a resident called Headquarters. 

Patrol Officer Burns initiated an investigation and determined an arrest was not required.  The victim was advised of their rights, provided with documents related to victim’s rights under the Domestic Violence Act, and offered an opportunity to apply for a Temporary Domestic Violence Restraining Order.  The victim declined the opportunity to apply for a Temporary Domestic Violence Restraining Order (TRO). FRAUD
A Naughright Road resident reported that they were the victim of fraud.  Patrol Officer Hade initiated an investigation and determined the validity of the resident’s complaint and facts.  The resident was advised as to the action available to them.

CRIMINAL MISCHIEF
A Naughright Road
resident reported that their mailbox was damaged.  Patrol Officer Madden initiated an investigation, and determined the post for the mailbox was run over by a moving vehicle.  The investigation is continuing.

FRAUD (Identity Theft)
A Mount Olive resident reported that they were the victim of an identity theft.  Patrol Officer Hade initiated an investigation and determined the validity of the resident’s complaint and facts, and belief that a resident of Washington Township may be responsible.  The resident was advised as to the action available to them. 

The continuing investigation was turned over to the Detective Bureau.

PROPERTY DAMAGE
A resident of Monmouth Junction, NJ reported that their vehicle was damaged on
East Mill Road.  Patrol Officer Gilligan responded and initiated an investigation.  Patrol Officer Gilligan determined the driver’s side of a 2001 Volkswagen was damaged by a falling tree limb in the evening storm.

CRIMINAL MISCHIEF
A Fairview Avenue
business reported that a vehicle was damaged.  Corporal Carvino responded and initiated an investigation.  .  Corporal Carvino determined the air was let out of three tires, and the vehicle, a 2002 Chevrolet pickup, was sprayed with a fire extinguisher.  The investigation is continuing.  Any individual with information related to this incident is asked to contact tips@wtpdmorris.org.  All information will be kept strictly confidential.

resident came to Headquarters to report that they lost a Motorola T-730 cell phone.  Corporal Carvino completed a report.

PATROL ARREST (DWI)
Corporal Szymanski, assisted by Sergeant Adams, arrested a 25 year old male resident of
Califon, NJ, for Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) on West Valley Brook Road, after the individual was involved in a motor vehicle crash.  The individual was injured in the crash and was treated and cleared by the Long Valley First Aid Squad.  The vehicle was impounded in accordance with “Johns Law” and the defendant was transported to Police Headquarters for a breathalyzer test and processing.  The driver refused to submit to a breathalyzer test, and was additionally charged with refusal.  The driver was additionally charged with careless driving, and failure to keep right.  The subject was unable to locate anyone to take custody of him, and was held in Police custody until he was in a condition to be released.

FAMILY MATTER (Custody Dispute)

An individual reported that they were having difficulty with a civil family order dealing with custody times of their children.  Sergeant Adams responded to initiate an investigation.  Sergeant Adams determined the matter was civil and nature and unenforceable by the Police Department.  The resident was advised the incident would be documented, to contact their attorney, and was provided with the appropriate referrals.

FAMILY MATTER (Custody Dispute)

An individual reported that their ex-spouse became abusive over the phone during a conversation regarding visitation details for their child.  Patrol Officer Rady responded to initiate an investigation.  Patrol Officer Rady determined there was no violation of the Domestic Violence Act and the matter was civil and nature and unenforceable by the Police Department.  The resident was advised the incident would be documented, to contact their attorney, and was provided with the appropriate referrals.

A resident of
Long Hill Road reported that their cable wire was cut.  Patrol Officer Rady responded and initiated an investigation.  .  Patrol Officer Rady determined the wire was deliberately cut .
