THEFT
A Winay Terrace resident reported that a ten foot white cutout stork
with a pink jacket and a baby bundle advertising the arrival of a baby
was removed from the front lawn. Patrol Officer Brobst initiated an
investigation. Lieutenant Bailey and Sergeant Compton located the
stolen stork, valued at $600, on Aspen Place. Police Officers situated
the stolen stork back on the front lawn.
The investigation is continuing.

ASSAULT
Detective Marut investigated a report of an assault after receiving a
report that a student was assaulted at West Morris Central High School.
Detective Marut spoke with school administrators and determined that a
student of West Morris High School was assaulted by a student at the
school. Detective Marut charged the offender, a juvenile, with simple
assault at the conclusion of his investigation.

PROPERTY
DAMAGE
A resident of
Barstann Court
reported that their mailbox was damaged by a delivery truck earlier that
day. Detective Marut responded and initiated an investigation, and
determined the damage to the mailbox was valued at approximately $50.
The victim will contact the delivery company for restitution.

DRUG ARREST
DWU
Patrol Officer Falleni arrested a male resident, age 29, of Pompton
Lakes, NJ for possession of marijuana under 50 grams and possession of
Paraphernalia, on Route 46, after the vehicle the individual was
operating was stopped for speeding. Patrol Officer Falleni determined
the driver was under the influence of an intoxicating drug. The
individual was transported to Police Headquarters, processed and
released to a responsible party.
The driver was additionally charged with possession of drug
paraphernalia, operating an unregistered vehicle, having no name on a
commercial vehicle, and operating a vehicle without a seatbelt in use.

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE
Patrol
Officer Hade investigated a possible case of harassment after a resident
came to Headquarters.
Patrol
Officer Hade initiated an investigation and determined an the incident
fell under the Domestic Violence Act, and an arrest was not required.
The complainant was
advised of their rights, provided with documents related to
victim’s rights under the Domestic Violence Act, and offered an
opportunity to meet with a member of the Crisis Response Team (CRT), and
apply for a Temporary Domestic Violence Restraining Order (TRO). The
complainant declined meeting with the CRT member and the opportunity to
apply for a TRO. Patrol Officer Hade additionally made appropriate
referrals and forwarded the results of his investigation to the Morris
County Prosecutor’s Office.

BURGLARY
A Middle Valley Road resident called to report their property was
burglarized. Patrol Officer Gilligan responded to the scene and
initiated an investigation.
Patrol
Officer Gilligan completed her initial investigation and turned the
investigation over to
Detective Sergeant Pellegrino. The investigation is continuing.

A Jackie Drive resident reported that a green hose and grey hose reel
were stolen. Patrol Officer Bigham initiated an investigation. The
resident stated the items were valued at $150. The investigation is
continuing.

ARREST (Consumption of Alcohol Underage)
Patrol Officer Allen, assisted by Patrol Officer Hade arrested juveniles
from Long Valley for consumption of alcohol while under the while
underage, after observing one juvenile pass out on West Springtown Road.
The individuals were transported to police Headquarters for
processing, and released to their parents pending adjudication

MATTER
A Highland Avenue resident reported came to Headquarters
to report a civil dispute. Patrol Officer Oranchak responded to
initiate an investigation. Patrol Officer Oranchak determined the
dispute involved a civil court order and out of the purview of the
Police Department. Patrol Officer Allen advised the complainant to
contact their attorney.

DOG
BITE
A Rock Road resident called to report a guest was bitten
by the family dog. Sergeant Almer responded to the scene to initiate an
investigation.
Sergeant Almer determined the victim was not seriously injured,
and was transported to
Hackettstown Community Hospital for treatment. Sergeant Almer
determined the animal was current on its vaccinations, and advised the
owner to confine the animal in accordance with Township policy.
Sergeant Almer forwarded documents related to his investigation to the
Health Department and the Animal Control Officer.
