FAMILY MATTER (Custody Dispute)

A resident reported that they were having difficulty with a civil family order dealing with visitation times of their children.  Patrol Officer Wurtemberg advised the individual the matter was civil in nature, and the agreement was unenforceable by the Police Department.  The complainant was advised to contact an attorney, and was provided with the appropriate referrals.

LOST PROPERTY
A Flocktown Road
resident came to Headquarters to report that they lost a Kyocera 2325 cell phone.  Patrol Officer Bigham completed a report.

BAD CHECK
A Long Valley, NJ business owner reported that they were issued a bad check, in the amount of $6,400, by a customer. Patrol Officer Bigham initiated an investigation and determined the validity of the resident’s complaint and facts.  The business representative was advised of the procedure to sign a criminal complaint.

PATROL ARREST (DWI – Possession of Drugs)
Patrol Officer Madden, assisted by Sergeant Almer, arrested a 22 year old male resident of Martins Creek, PA for Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) on West Mill Road.  Subsequent to arrest the defendant was found in possession of marijuana.  The vehicle was impounded in accordance with “Johns Law” and the defendant was transported to Police Headquarters for a breathalyzer test and processing.

The driver was additionally charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of under 50 grams of marijuana, possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance in a motor vehicle, possession of drug paraphernalia, reckless driving, and failure to maintain a lane.  The subject was released to a responsible party.

MISSING PERSON
A Cobblestone Road
resident reported their mother was missing from Heath Village.  The mother has Alzheimer’s.  Patrol Officer Falleni, assisted by  Detective Sergeant Pellegrino and Communication Officer Taquinto, responded to initiate an investigation. 

All patrol vehicles and surrounding jurisdictions were notified and provided with a description of the individual, and the vehicle they were believed to be operating.  The individual was entered into the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) system, a TREK announcement was distributed to all surrounding states, and the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office was notified. 

At 9:56 PM, Officer Palmer of the Stroud Regional Police called Police Headquarters to report that he located the missing person.  Police Headquarters notified the family

RECOVERED STOLEN MOTOR VEHICLE

Sergeant Bratus conducted a random license plate check on a vehicle traveling on East Avenue, and the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) reported the vehicle was a vehicle stolen from Newark, NJ.  The information from NCIC reported the vehicle was involved in an armed robbery, and the occupants should be considered armed with a handgun.

Communications Officer Curtin contacted Newark Police Department who requested the occupants of the vehicle be detained, as the vehicle was involved in an armed robbery.  The vehicle, a black 1995 Toyota was stopped, with the assistance of the Mount Olive Police Department and Patrol Officer Hade.  The occupants, a 42 year old year old male and a 45 year old year old male, both from Newark, were detained. 

Newark advised the individuals were to be released.

PATROL ARREST (Warrant)
Patrol Officer Allen arrested a 42 year old male resident of
Hackettstown, NJ on a contempt of court warrant issued by the Central Warren Municipal Court.  Bail on the warrant was set at $161.  The individual was transported to Headquarters, processed and turned over to the custody of the Washington Township (Warren County) Police Department as he was unable to post bail.

CRIMINAL MISCHIEF
A resident of
Yorkshire Drive reported a window was damaged, possibly by an air gun projectile.  Patrol Officer Madden responded and completed a report.

HARASSMENT
A Fawn Ridge Drive resident came to Headquarters to report that they have been receiving harassing phone calls.  Patrol Officer Rady initiated an investigation.  Patrol Officer Rady advised the complainant what options were available, and the procedures involved, to end the harassment.

HARASSMENT
A Heron Drive resident called to report that they have been harassed.  Sergeant Adams responded to initiate an investigation.  Sergeant Adams determined the individual was receiving unwanted items in the mail.  Sergeant Adams advised the complainant what options were available, and the procedures involved, to end the harassment.

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE
Patrol Officer Rady investigated a possible violation of a Temporary Restraining Order (TRO) after a resident called Headquarters.

Patrol Officer Rady determined a violation of the TRO occurred, but the offender is believed to be residing in Florida, and the TRO has not been served by Florida Law Enforcement Officials.  Without service, there is no violation of the order.

Patrol Officer Rady additionally made appropriate referrals to the complainant and forwarded the results of his investigation to the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office.

FRAUD
A Janet Drive resident reported that they were the victim of theft.  Sergeant Trevena initiated an investigation and determined the victim contracted with a contractor to install a pool at the victim’s residence.  The resident stated a payment was made for the work, and the contractor has not started any installation work.  Sergeant Trevena advised the victim as to the action available to them, and the procedure to file a criminal complaint.

HOMICIDE
Sergeant Adams initiated a welfare check of a Heath Village couple after an individual contacted Headquarters concerned about them. 

Sergeant Adams, upon his arrival at Heath Village, was met by Heath Village employees who advised him the couple were deceased.  Sergeant Adams initiated an investigation, determined the staff was correct and secured the scene. Detective Marut and the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crime Squad responded to the scene to initiate investigations.

Investigation revealed an 88 year old male resident of Heath Village killed his spouse, an 89 year old female resident of Heath Village, and then killed himself.

LOST PROPERTY
A Nestling Woods Drive
resident came to Headquarters to report that a cell phone was lost.  Corporal Barnes completed a report.

HARASSMENT
A Peachtree Village resident called to report that they have been harassed and threatened by a neighbor.  Patrol Officer Oranchak responded to initiate an investigation, and spoke with several involved parties.  Additionally, Patrol Officer Oranchak advised the complainant of the procedure to file a complaint with the municipal court.

PATROL ARREST (DWI)
Patrol Officer Hade arrested a 22 year old female resident of Washington Township for Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) on Schooley’s Mountain Road, after finding the individual unconscious in the vehicle. 

Long Valley First Aid Squad responded and transported the individual to Hackettstown Community Hospital.  At the hospital the individual was arrested for DWI and a blood sample was obtained.

The vehicle was impounded in accordance with “Johns Law” and the defendant was transported, after treatment, to Police Headquarters for a processing. 

The driver was additionally charged with careless driving.  The subject was released to a responsible party.

VEHICLE FIRE
While on patrol, Patrol Officer Allen observed a vehicle on fire in the driveway of a
Turtleback Road residence.  The Long Valley Fire Company and the Schooley’s Mountain Fire Protection Association responded to extinguish the fire. The vehicle a 1986 Ford pickup was completely destroyed.  Patrol Officer Allen determined the cause of the fire was accidental.
