CRIMINAL SEXUAL CONTACT
Corporal Szymanski investigated a report of a sexual assault after a
victim called Headquarters.
Corporal Szymanski determined that an employee of a Route 46 business
was grabbed by a patron. Corporal Szymanski arrested a 48 year old male
resident of Hackettstown for Criminal Sexual Contact. Washington
Township Municipal Court Judge Leanza set bail at $5,000 with a 10%
option. The defendant posted bail and was released pending
adjudication.

ARREST (DWI)
Patrol Officer Burns arrested a 32 year old female resident of
Narragansett, RI, for Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) on East Mill Road,
after the vehicle she was operating drove into the rear of a vehicle
waiting to make a left turn into Long Valley Plaza.
The vehicle was impounded in accordance with “Johns Law” and the
defendant was transported to Police Headquarters for a breathalyzer test
and processing. The defendant refused a breathalyzer test at
Headquarters and was charged with refusal to submit a breath sample.
The defendant was also charged with reckless driving. The subject was
released to a responsible party.

ARREST (Warrant)
Patrol Officer Oranchak arrested a 22 year old female resident of
Long
Valley, NJ on a contempt of court warrant issued by the Wayne Township
Municipal Court. Bail on the warrant was set at $806. The individual
was transported to Headquarters, processed and released on bail pending
adjudication.

CHECK
A Route 46 business owner reported that the business
was issued a check by a customer for service provided. Before the check
could be cashed, the customer stopped payment on the check. Patrol
Officer Falleni initiated an investigation and determined the validity
of the resident’s complaint and facts. The business was advised of the
procedure to sign a criminal complaint.

ACCIDENT
(Leaving the scene)
Patrol Officer Gilligan responded to a report of a motor vehicle
accident on Pleasant Grove Road. Patrol Officer Gilligan initiated an
investigation and determined the vehicle, a 1951Ford pickup repeatedly
struck a number of objects on the road. The operator was unable to be
located.
Patrol Officer Gilligan identified the individual that operated
the vehicle, a 45 year old male resident of
Washington,
NJ. The vehicle was impounded and the operator was issued summonses for
leaving the scene of an accident, reckless driving, and failure to
report an accident.

ABANDONED
MOTOR VEHICLE
Patrol Officer Falleni located an abandoned vehicle on Settler’s Ridge
Court. The vehicle had no inspection certificate or license plates.
Detective Marut determined the vehicle was not stolen and located the
owner, a Monsey, NY, resident. Detective Marut spoke with the owner and
advised him action would be taken if the vehicle was promptly not
removed.

ACCIDENT
(Fatality)
Sergeant Trevena and Corporal Barnes responded to a report of a motor
vehicle accident on Fairview Avenue. Corporal Barnes initiated an
investigation and determined the vehicle, a 1992 Peterbilt Tractor
struck and fatally injured a 50 year old male resident of New Waterford,
OH, who was assisting the vehicle in backing.
Sergeant Trevena and Corporal Barnes were assisted in the
investigation by the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office’s Vehicular
Homicide Unit, The Morris County Sheriff’s Department, OSHA, Parsippany
branch, The Morris County Medical Examiner’s Office, and the New Jersey
State Police Commercial Enforcement Unit. The vehicle was impounded
pending examination, and the operator was issued summonses for unsafe
backing.

ARREST (DWI, Possession of CDS)
Patrol Officer Burns arrested a 18 year old male resident of
Flanders,
NJ for Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) on
Flocktown Road.
The passenger of the vehicle, a 19 year old resident of
Flanders,
NJ, was also intoxicated. The passenger was arrested for possession of
under 50 grams of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia. The
vehicle was impounded in accordance with “Johns Law” and both defendants
were transported to Police Headquarters.
The driver was additionally charged with reckless driving,
possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle,
failure to keep right, possession of under 50 grams of marijuana, and
possession of drug paraphernalia. The defendants were released to a
responsible party.

Sergeant Compton arrested a 20 year old male resident of
Ledgewood,
NJ on a contempt of court warrant issued by the Green Joint Court. Bail
on the warrant was set at $35. The individual was transported to
Headquarters, processed and released on bail pending adjudication.

A representative of the Elizabethtown Gas Company came to Headquarters
to report that a device used in the metering of gas was stolen.
Corporal Szymanski initiated an investigation. The representative
stated the device is valued at $500.

A Long Valley, NJ resident came to Headquarters to report a credit card
fraud. Patrol Officer Brobst initiated an investigation. The resident
stated an employee of their company used a business credit card for
personal purchases. The employee has not re-paid the money due as
agreed. The investigation is continuing.

Hackettstown, NJ on a contempt of court warrant issued by the Mount
Olive Township Municipal Court. Bail on the warrant was set at $350.
The individual was transported to Headquarters, processed and turned
over to the Mount Olive Police Department as he was unable to post bail.

BURGLARY
A Route 46 business owner called to report an ATV was stolen from a
secured lot behind their business. Patrol Officer Falleni responded to
the scene, initiated an investigation and determined a chain to the
gated area was cut and a 1990 yellow and blue quad runner was stolen.

A Stuart Court resident reported that their mailbox
was removed from it’s post. Patrol Officer Falleni initiated an
investigation, and determined the mailbox was placed on an adjacent
mailbox post. The mailbox was returned to the victim. The
investigation is continuing.
