On or about April 15, 2008 the Stephensburg Road bridge near the
intersection of Old Turnpike Road will be closed and construction will begin
on a 26 foot wide replacement bridge, the project is expected to take about
three months to complete. the new bridge will be completed by
September 1, 2008. The hours of construction will be from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm
Monday through Friday, with the possibility of occasional Saturday work.
Jersey barriers and break-away devices will be placed on both sides of the
construction zone. Signs will be erected two weeks prior to the construction
advising motorists to plan alternate routes. South bound traffic on
Stephensburg Road will be detoured left to Old turnpike Road to Rt.57 east
to Kings Highway. Signs will be placed on Pleasant Grove Road directing
northbound traffic to Kings Highway. Vehicles traveling north on
Stephensburg Road will encounter signs stating that the road is closed
except to local traffic. The last sign will be placed at the Cider Mill Lane
intersection so that vehicles have a place to turn around. Police Officers
will staff the closure points for the first two days to assist motorists and
residents as required.
